DECISION UPDATE: Effective October 1, 2022 the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, 25th Edition, Safety Standard for Electrical Installations, Canadian Standards Association Standard C22.1-21 is adopted as the BC Electrical Code. Overview:

Technical Safety BC has reviewed the 2021 Canadian Electrical Code (CE Code) to assess the impacts of the Code changes for the province of BC, and has drafted a recommendation to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing on its suitability for provincial adoption. Before submitting our recommendation, we are consulting with industry and anyone with an interest to ensure we have accurately assessed the impacts of these changes, and to gather any additional feedback on the changes that should be considered.

Recommendation:

That the Province adopt the 2021 CE Code with a variation to allow the use of t-tap cable connectors in the film and entertainment industry, as was done in 2018.

The complete list of changes to the 2021 CE Code can be accessed through the CSA or through education and training providers.
