Enhancements to Design Registration
1. Increased speed of service
We know that time is a critical factor in any project. This is why our team has been hard at work improving turnaround times by:
adding more resources to process applications; and
optimizing internal workflows to ensure baseline service levels are met regardless of fluctuations in applications volume.
Overall reduction in standard application turnaround times*:
BPVR - 20% (5 days) reduction in average turnaround time
ED - 15% (7 days) reduction in average turnaround time
GA - 40% (26 days) reduction in average turnaround time
*New overall processing time vs. average processing times in 2021-2022; individual processing times may vary on a case-by-case basis
2. Improved application workflow
Since 2020, a critical area of focus has been enhancing the overall application experience. Transitioning from paper applications to digital submissions via the design registration portal has helped improve the overall application workflow in the following ways:
faster application from start to finish;
increased application transparency including up-to-date status tracking;
more updates throughout the application process;
more cost-efficient submissions (cost savings include printing, postage, and parcel insurance); and
self-serve functionality which enables clients to track their progress, tailor application types and input fields, search for design registration submissions by admin number, contact the engineering team, and pay their invoices online.
3. Increased client support
According to our most recent client satisfaction survey, design registration clients are seeking more support from us while completing their applications. Therefore, we have been focusing on ensuring there is ample support throughout the application process including:
more communication channels such as the design registration portal, email, and phone.
