Climate Safety Summit: 9am-12:30pm PDT

Safety impacts from the interaction between weather events and technical equipment are becoming more frequent as a result of climate change. On June 23, Technical Safety BC is inviting partners across the safety system to join us for a half-day virtual dialogue focused on safe technical systems in the face of climate change.

During the Climate Safety Summit, participants will have the opportunity to learn about climate change and the impact to technical equipment in BC, and have a conversation on what colleagues, Technical Safety BC, and others are doing to build resiliency in design and operation of technical equipment, and help shape a future vision for climate safe technical systems.

We recognize that the effects of climate change are strongly felt by Indigenous Nations across Turtle Island and that Indigenous Peoples and communities, as original inhabitants and stewards of the land, have a unique and central position in any conversation about climate safety. We welcome Elders, Traditional Knowledge Keepers, Indigenous community members, professionals, and organizations to participate in the Summit and share their perspectives, and we are committed to building an event that is culturally safe and inclusive.

This event will include live closed captioning. It is our intent to make our activities and engagement as accessible and inclusive as possible. Working towards a climate-safe future needs a broad range of ideas and innovation for equitable access to safety. Please contact us if you have any additional suggestions or requests to improve accessibility. We welcome all feedback.
