As a licensed contractor, you are responsible for ensuring compliance with the Safety Standards Act, relevant regulations, and applicable safety orders and directives.
In early 2022 we began an initiative to learn about your experiences and challenges with licensing, and listen to your ideas and priorities around improving the licensing function. We asked about how a licence provides value to contractors, and how we can enhance that value.
What we heard
In June 2022, Technical Safety BC held a Discovery Workshop to obtain input from contractors on the strengths and challenges of the licensing product.
Some key themes arose as follows:
Supporting those key themes, the following priorities were idnetified.
Technical Safety BC will be reconnecting with contractors to validate these findings and confirm priority areas for implementing change.

We would like to better understand the different roles associated with your operations. Until now, Technical Safety BC has been limited to having a single point of contact for most contractors. However, we have heard from past engagements that a number of individuals within a contractor could be interacting with Technical Safety BC, and we would like to recognize and support these individuals, by determining how to better tailor information to various contractor & support roles.
