Akey pillar of Technical Safety BC’s oversight model is to ensure that industry is equipped with up-to-date knowledge and is competent in managing safety system risks. In 2021, continuing education became a mandatory requirement for renewal of Field Safety Representative (FSR) certifications.
Technical Safety BC is currently working with training providers and the electrical industry to better understand the current supply and demand of quality FSR education. This includes both FSR certification preparation training (new certifications) and FSR certification continuing educationtraining (code refresher).

DECISION UPDATE (MARCH 16, 2022): Based onyourinput and feedback, Technical Safety BC has made the decision not to offer code update training for the 2021 Electrical Code changes. We believe our absence from the code change education and training market will enable training providers to expand and diversify their offerings and provide coverage to meet the needs of FSRs and the electrical industry. The delivery of quality, accessible code update education is important and we will monitor supply and demand to assess if and when TSBC may need to provide training assistance.
